Introduction
This privacy policy explains how the AbTrove Antibody Importer Chrome Extension (“Extension”) collects, uses, and protects your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Data We Collect
Page Content
When you click “Save to AbTrove” on an antibody vendor page, we extract the HTML content from that specific page to identify antibody product information (name, catalog number, vendor, specifications). This data is only collected when you explicitly initiate an import action.
Authentication Data
We store your AbTrove user ID and associated lab information locally in Chrome storage to maintain your session and enable importing to your lab registry.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Browsing history or activity on pages you don't import from
- Personal information beyond your AbTrove account
- Data from pages other than antibody vendor product pages
- Cookies or tracking data from third-party sites
- Financial or payment information
How We Use Your Data
- Antibody Import: Page content is sent to AbTrove servers to extract and structure antibody product information for your lab registry.
- Authentication: Your user ID connects imports to your AbTrove account and lab.
Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: Authentication data (your AbTrove user ID and lab list) is cached locally in Chrome's extension storage and re-validated after 24 hours; you can sign out at any time to clear it immediately.
- Server Storage: Imported antibody data is stored in your AbTrove lab registry, protected by the same security measures as the main AbTrove application.
- Transmission: All data is transmitted over HTTPS encryption.
- No Third Parties: We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties.
Extension Permissions Explained
launchWebAuthFlow redirect mechanism.*.abtrove.com (used to push live registry updates back to the AbTrove web app you have open). Access to a supplier site — Abcam, Thermo Fisher, Cell Signaling, Bio-Rad, Sigma, Proteintech, BioLegend, Santa Cruz, R&D Systems, Novus, and other antibody and reagent vendors — is requested at runtime: the first time you click “Save to AbTrove” on a particular site, Chrome shows a standard one-time permission prompt for that specific origin. The extension cannot read any site you have not explicitly granted access to, and access is granted per-site, not in bulk.Your Rights
- Access: View and export your imported antibody data from your AbTrove dashboard.
- Delete: Remove any imported antibody records from your registry.
- Clear Local Data: Remove extension authentication data by signing out or uninstalling the extension.
- Account Deletion: Request complete data deletion through your AbTrove account settings.
Policy Updates
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension or AbTrove platform. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
